MODULAR  DIALOG

To understand Peter's MODULAR DIALOG series, think "stream of consciousness." Each 14 x 14 inch painting represents an idea, a thought. There are lots of them. Images and ideas lead into one another, collide in ways that are logical or enigmatic. How do they fit together?  You decide.

The series was created, originally, as a finite set of 21 square black and white paintings on a grid. That grid, in Peter's DIALOG:21 show at Spark Gallery in Fall, 2005, proved to be more than popular..... It was almost addictive. People liked the idea of selecting images and creating their own grids - their own narratives. The DIALOG:21 group quickly grew into the MODULAR DIALOG series, as new paintings were created. Each one is 14 x 14, Black and White, and each one is unique and numbered.

MODULAR DIALOG pieces have found their way all over the country in a very brief time. Some collectors choose themes; others select groupings that are more surrealistic. It's a way that the viewer can participate in the artistic process. You arrange the images, and you create the composition. Even the size and shape of the final piece are out of the hands of the original artist. A straight line going down a hallway, or a square grid of 4 in the den; a large rectangular arrangment over the sofa...  This series is flexible and dynamic.  It can go anywhere and tell any story. To see what we mean, print this page, cut out the squares, and begin to create your own story.
